Sins That Hinder Our Prayers
The Bible reveals that sin in a believer's life will hinder their prayers to God. Psalm 66:18 reads, "If I regard iniquity (sin) in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." The Bible also reveals several specific sins that can hinder prayer.
A Broken Relationship and an Unforgiving Spirit can keep your prayers from being heard by God. For example, husbands and wives must work out any problems, disagreements, etc. These things can hinder the unity of a marriage and also hinder their prayers to God.
Peter writes; "Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers." (I Peter 3:7)
Question: Have you had a major fight or disagreement with your spouse recently? Get it settled! Forgive! Don't allow your marriage to suffer any longer. Not only will it help your marriage, but it can stop your prayers from being unanswered.
Blessings!

The Bible reveals that sin in a believer's life will hinder their prayers to God. Psalm 66:18 reads, "If I regard iniquity (sin) in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." The Bible also reveals several specific sins that can hinder prayer.
Idolatry is a sin that will hinder our prayers. Anything that we love more than God becomes an idol in our hearts. When idolatry is present in a believer, God won't hear their prayers. The leaders of Israel in Ezekiel's day were guilty of the sin of idolatry. They came to Ezekiel to talk to the Lord. God said, "Son of man, (Ezekiel) these men (leaders of Israel) have set up idols in their hearts and put stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all?" (Ezekiel 14:3)
Idols? T.W. Hunt writes, "almost anything can become an idol - Money, Job, Clothes, Another Person, T.V., Entertainment Pleasure, Leisure Time Activities."
Believer, do you love anything more than God? Ask God to show you any sinful idol in your heart! Confess your sin and receive His forgiveness. Then, your prayers can be heard!
Blessings!

The Bible reveals that sin in a believer's life will hinder our prayers to God. Psalm 66:18 reads, "If I regard iniquity (sin) in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." The Bible also reveals several specific sins that can hinder our prayers. . .
Anger is a sin that can hinder our prayers. I Timothy 2:8 reads; "I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without wrath (anger) or disputing."
"When people become angry, they often lose control of themselves or hold grudges for a long time" (T.W. Hunt). That kind of anger against others will hinder our prayers!
Believer, are you angry with someone? Quickly confess your sin to God and remove the hindrance to unanswered prayers.
Blessings!

Helping The Weak
Paul said to the Ephesians, "In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: It is more blessed to give than to receive." (Acts 20:35)
Is there someone around you that is weak or struggling today? Give a word or deed of encouragement to them in some way. Remember, Jesus said; "It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Blessings!

Keep Watching!
"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come." (Matthew 24:42)
"Watch" = be alert! Spiritually alert! How? One way that "watching" might be exhibited is by following the teachings of Matthew 6:33. "But seek His kingdom and His righteousness. . ."
Stay focussed on the spiritual realm today and most of all focus on the Savior!
Blessings!

True Devotion To God
"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." (Psalm 139:23-24)
Prayer: "Lord, I want to be totally devoted to you! Search, test and examine me for anything that would hinder my fellowship with you today. I will acknowledge my sins and ask for your forgiveness and cleansing. Then, lead me in your ways! In Jesus' Name! Amen."
Blessings!

Prayers That Are Answered, "Yes"!
Meditate on the meaning of the following scripture from John 15:7-8. "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit; showing yourselves to be my disciples."
T.W. Hunt writes, "If Christ's message abides or remains in us over a period of time, the way we think and the way we pray are affected. These prove that we really are learners of Him. Abiding in Christ has important implications in your life. Your time with the Lord is regular and continuous. You constantly walk in fellowship with God. By definition, abiding cannot be intermittent. When you abide in Christ, you pray without ceasing. One thing you do without ceasing is breathing. Prayer is as needful and indispensable to your spiritual life as breathing is to your physical life."
Praise God for answering our prayers!
Blessings!
